Sustainability Policy
While we pride ourselves on being specialist in the field of skincare, makeup artistry, and education, sustainability is not something that has come easy to us. Our sustainability journey so far has been a continuous learning curve, and every day we learn more ways to be as environmentally conscious as possible. We don’t strive towards perfection, rather the continuous pursuit of progress, and we believe we have made a significant impact today through continuous, small, tangible changes.
We approach sustainability rather holistically. While we aim to be stewards for the environment, and promote the protection of the natural landscape, we also understand that true sustainability encompasses so much more. Below we have detailed a number of endeavours that we have undertaken to support sustainability across environmental stewardship, community involvement, social responsibility, and economic viability.
· Prioritise digital copies of learning material in our training academy, rather than printing physical manuals.
· All bookings are completed and managed digitally.
· While it is necessary to use single use materials such as paper and plastic in a number of our service, we minimise the use of these materials as much as possible. We are careful to only use the necessary amount to complete the service, whole ensuring hygiene standards are maintained.
· We have invested in robust, reusable cloths for many of our facial services.
· We have standardised and streamlined all of our processes that involve plastic or plastic derived materials. This means that very little waste is generated from processes such as nail services.
· We prioritise buying in bulk and decanting/refilling our products as necessary. This has significantly reduced our plastic consumption.
· Within the salon we have introduced a number of small (yet mighty) energy efficiency endeavours. These include things like LED lighting, energy efficient equipment, timers, and sensors.
· We have a strong ethos around education, both inside the training academy and outside of it. While much of our education comes in the form of structured training, we are also continually willing and available to provide information and guidance to a number of our customers on areas such as skincare, makeup, waxing etc. We also would like to continue to encourage individual from all walks of life to upskill and train in the field, so offer work shadowing and work experience for trainee’s, students etc.
One of the most important sustainability focused endeavours that we have embarked on however, is the partnerships that we have made with many of the suppliers that we stock. While customer satisfaction and preference is always at the forefront of our mind when deciding what we stock, we do endeavour to use and supply products from businesses that have made significant strides in achieving their own respective sustainability goals. A significant portion of what we use is sourced from businesses who are cruelty free, vegan friendly, use organic materials, utilise recycled materials in their packaging, or have obtained a sustainable certification.
